About Coastal Aware Alliance

A focused approach to supporting marine conservation through action, not just awareness.

Purpose and Approach

Time in the water changes how you see the ocean. What feels vast and untouched from above reveals itself as something far more fragile. We’ve seen animals marked by pollution, marine life entangled in debris, and reef systems strained by a changing climate. These aren’t isolated events—they are signals of a broader imbalance that deserves our attention.

The reality is that our actions do shape the health of the ocean. But understanding that impact—and how to respond—requires better insight, better data, and a commitment to act on what we learn.

If you believe conservation should lead to real, measurable outcomes—not just awareness—then we share the same perspective.

Our vision is a future where accessible data and informed decisions drive meaningful protection of marine ecosystems worldwide.

Our mission is to support marine research and ocean conservation through targeted funding, field-based participation, and structured collaboration that contributes to measurable, real-world outcomes.

What We Do

We currently support marine research and ocean conservation in two focused ways: through field-based research efforts and through programs that help enable research projects to move forward.

Our marine research fieldwork initiative supports research conducted through direct observation, monitoring, tracking, identification, and in-water data collection. This work is grounded in practical engagement with marine environments and is intended to generate meaningful insight through real-world execution.

Our marine research funding and support initiative helps enable research through targeted programs such as Micro-Grants and Student Partnership. Some projects benefit most from direct funding. Others benefit from active collaboration, practical support, or a combination of both.

Together, these two areas allow us to support marine research from more than one angle—helping strong ideas move into the field while creating pathways for meaningful work to take shape and grow.

Our Approach

Our approach is grounded in clarity, focus, and execution. We prioritize efforts that produce tangible outcomes—whether through data that informs conservation decisions or projects that create immediate impact in the field. This means supporting work that is measurable, actionable, and aligned with real-world conservation needs.

We also recognize that effective conservation depends on both insight and action. By connecting tracking data with targeted funding, we aim to support a more informed and responsive approach to protecting marine environments.

This is not about broad awareness alone—it’s about contributing to work that moves conservation forward in a practical, meaningful way. Our approach is grounded in supporting marine research and advancing ocean conservation through practical, outcome-driven work.
